Understanding Friends
Sometimes it is hard to understand how our friend feels and what they need from us when they have an allergy.
Here is a few simple steps to make your friend feel more comfortable
1. Talk about their allergy with them. Get to know what happens and what you should do if they have a reaction.
2. If the allergy is a severe one to a particular food, then please don't bring that food around your friend. If your having a shared lunch, bring something they can eat as well.
3.If they suffer from anaphaletic reaction which requires an Epipen - learn how to administer it, just in case there is an emergency. Ask them where they keep their Epipen.
4. Always get the nurse at school to come if your friend is having a reaction. It doesn't matter how small, they still need to be checked out by someone with medical experience.
5. Just be there for your friend and let them know you understand.
